The finalists for the Salford-BASBWE Composers Contest have been announced as Franner Otter, Karl Wheelan, and Stephen Richardson
The three composers have been invited to a workshop with the Central Band of the RAF and will also have their works premiered at a special concert on the 15th of February hosted at the University of Salford in partnership with BASBWE and Kirklees Music.
The winning entry will be announced at the conclusion of the concert by a panel comprising Dr Nigel Clarke, Professor Peter Graham and Dr Peter Meechan. A £500 cash prize and publishing contract with Kirklees Music will be awarded to the winning composer.
The concert on the 15th will feature The Central Band of the Royal Air Force conducted by Wing Commander Duncan J G Stubbs M Mus FRSM ARCM LGSM RAF. Pre-concert music will be provided by Salford Music and Performing Arts Service Wind Band and University of Salford Wind Band.
