Robin Norman to step down as Raunds MD

It is with sadness that Raunds Temperance Band announces the resignation of Robin Norman as their full-time Musical Director after a successful 5 years in the role.

Robin commented on his decision “After 5 tremendous years with Raunds Temperance Band I have made the decision, with a heavy heart, to step down. With my ‘day job’ as a Head of Faculty at a large secondary school the workload is increasing along with undertaking a Masters degree and I do not feel I am able, at this time, to give the level of commitment that a band such as Raunds requires. I am not leaving to take any other full-time conducting role; rather I am going to return to concentrating on my tuba playing whilst taking occasional guest or ‘one-off’ conducting engagements. This was a tough decision as they have worked so hard for me and are a great bunch of people but I leave them with a strong committee and membership and I wish them all the very best for the future.”

The Chairman of Raunds, Sam Goswell commented “Working with Robin over the past 5 years has been an enjoyable experience for the Band. We would like to publicly thank him for his commitment, hard work and enthusiasm during this time. The Band would like to wish Robin every success in his future ventures

No announcement has yet been made about Robin’s successor but, in the meantime, Robin’s last engagement with the band will be a concert on ‘home turf’ in the St.Peter’s Church, Raunds on Saturday 28th June, commencing at 7.30pm
