Pontins Test Pieces announced

The  Pontin’s Brass Band Committee and Management are delighted to announce that the dates for the above prestigious Contest  for  2010 are now confirmed as Friday to Monday, 22^nd to 25^th October 2010.

At this years Championships,  we will celebrate 37 years of Pontin’s Brass Band  Contests and as usual, beside the wonderful test pieces selected by  our musical adviser James Scott, visitors and band persons will  again enjoy a great social weekend filled with music and entertainment.

For the benefit of all interested Bands, the Contest will feature the following test pieces :

The Harry & Margaret Mortimer Championship Section:

Test Piece:  Les Preludes (Composer:  Liszt - transcribed by Bram Gay). Publisher: Novello/Studio Music

First Section:

Test Piece: Flamborough Seascapes (Composer:  Darrol Barry). Publisher:  Kirklees Music

Second Section:

Test Piece:  California Legend (Composer: Bruce Broughton). Publisher:  Wynwood Music

Third Section:

Test Piece:  Partita for Band (Composer:  Philip Wilby). Publisher:   Wynwood Music

Fourth Section:

Test Piece:   A Caledonian Journey (Composer:  Alan Fernie). Publisher:  Kirklees Music

All potential  Bands will be sent shortly the Schedule and entry forms together with all necessary Contest details , including a revised prize structure with  a greatly increased prize fund.
