Twice as much music

Verwood Concert Brass recently competed at the West of England Championships in Torquay. This was their first contest in the Second Section following promotion. Verwood came an amazing second place which not only means they will once again represent the region at the National Brass band Championships in Harrogate later in the year but also means that the band will be promoted to the First Section in 2010.

One result of Verwood’s meteoric rise through the sections is an influx of excellent brass players from further afield who wish to join the band and share the success. Verwood are now in the happy position of having sufficient players to form two main bands in addition to its long standing Training Band.

On Wednesday 3rd June Verwood’s new band (‘Verwood B’), will have its first rehearsal at the Band Hall in Moorlands Road under the baton of David Johnson. ‘Verwood B’ will perform at concerts and compete against other bands in the Fourth Section. Anyone interested in playing with the bands or conductors who would like to audition for the role of ‘Verwood B Band’ MD should contact band chairman Paul Coward on 01202 828073 or visit the band web site www.verwoodconcertbrass.co.uk
