Young talent with Milnrow

United Co-op Milnrow Band has announced details of a forthcoming concert at Manchester University, on Saturday 8 November at 7.30pm.

The concert will feature the North West Championship Section band and special guest soloists, principals from the National Youth Brass of Great Britain 2008 Summer Course: Mark Harrison (soprano), Andrew Moore (horn) and Matthew White (euphonium).

All three guests are amongst the finest brass playing talent in the UK and will feature some popular repertoire on the evening, including the classic Silver Threads, Peter Graham’s Bravura and his Episode for Horn. Milnrow Band will perform a diverse repertoire including a performance of young SA composer, Stephen Ponsford’s new Turris Fortissima.

The concert will be held in the Cosmo Rodewald concert hall, and will be a part of season that includes performances by the BBC Philharmonic and other notable musicians.

Milnrow’s band manager, Adrienne Connell commented: “Not only is this the first time the band has performed in this wonderful venue, it’s the first time any brass band has performed there, so we are very pleased to have this opportunity, and to work with such great young soloists.”

The evening will have an acknowledgement of the rememberance weekend too, with some specially selected music.

Tickets are £8.00/£4.00 and are available by calling 0161 275 8951 or booking through www.quaytickets.com
