Richard Franklin
and Philip Biggs are delighted to announce that plans are well in place
for the
2008 All England Masters International Brass Band Championship which
takes place at the Corn
Exchange, Cambridge on Sunday 25th May. Philip and Richard are well
aware that the 2008
championship will be the twentieth since it was inaugurated in 1989 and
to mark this special
occasion have commissioned Martin Ellerby to provide a set work entitled
Malcolm Arnold
Variations to commemorate the great British composer and former trumpet
player with the London
Philharmonic Orchestra. Malcolm Arnold Variations follows an impressive
list of past commissions
from Philip and Richard since 1989 which include Cambridge Variations -
Philip Sparke, Montage
- Peter Graham, Hymn at Sunrise - Ray Steadman Allen, Jazz - Philip
Wilby, Tristan Encounters -
Martin Ellerby and Chivalry also by Martin Ellerby.
