Brighouse welcome two

Brighouse and Rastrick Band are pleased to announce that Mick Kennedy and Richard Windle have joined the band on 2nd Cornet and 2nd Trombone respectively. Both players made their contest debut with the band in last weeks Brass in Concert victory.

Mick comes to the band from Hatfield, prior to that he was a stalwart of Grimethorpe Colliery. He replaces Robert Horscroft who has left the band, with Stephen Peacock moving from 2nd to 3rd cornet. The band thanks Rob for 18 months service which saw him play 3rd cornet and also step up to play solo cornet and flugel when required.

Richard Windle joins from Carlton Main Frickley where he spent several months following a break from playing. Another former Grimey player, he replaces long serving 2nd Trombone player Scott Quarmby who leaves due to increasing work and family commitments. The band wish Scott all the best for the future and thank him for all he has done both as a player and also his significant input as a committee member and official.

Speaking of the recent additions to the line-up, Musical Director Alan Morrison said ‘I am absolutely delighted that 2 players of the experience and expertise of Mick and Richard have decided to join us at Brighouse. The inner strength of the band will be greatly enhanced by these signings and I hope their association with the band will be long, enjoyable and successful’
