Brighouse & Rastrick
Band are delighted to announce that ‘Boobs & Brass’, the all ladies
charity band from Northamptonshire will join them on stage next October
in the Autumn concert of their prestigious Massed Bands series. This
unique combination will undoubtedly be a first of its type and a sell
out on 25th October 2008 is predicted.
Members of the two
bands first met up in July at the Whit Friday March contests. The ladies
group really made their mark on proceedings and discussions have
continued between the bands ever since.
‘Boobs & Brass’ were
formed in 2006 when two brass enthusiasts formed a band to raise money
for the National Breast Cancer Campaign and their local Opthalmic Unit
at Kettering General Hospital. Initially comprised of players from
local bands, the outstanding success and publicity from their first
concert inspired many other players to offer their services from much
further afield.
After further
discussions between the two bands the B&R committee had no hesitation in
extending a formal invitation for Boobs and Brass to play in
Huddersfield Town Hall. The prompt and enthusiastic response from
Northants holds well for next October when their fee from B & R will be
donated to the Breast Cancer Campaign. Watch this space for further
