Bedding step's down at St Austell

After 16 years of being the chairman of St Austell Band, Trevor Bedding has stepped down. Trevor became associated with St Austell Band in the 1980's and made some appearances as part of the percussion section. His playing never really took off and more recently his involvement with the percussion section has been transporting the gear around in his van!

During Trevor's 16 years as chairman he has certainly become an important figurehead for the band and club. One of Trevor's favourite sayings has become 'At the end of the day', and thankfully for us at St Austell Band 'At the end of the day Trevor is going to continue his involvement with the band by dealing with player registrations and also by transporting the percussion around for us'.

Thanks to Trevor for all he has done for the band and the club over the years.

The new chairman for St Austell Band is Rob Faro.

Rob started playing the tenor trombone with the St Austell Youth Band in 1992 under the baton of Maurice Arnold and progressed through the organisation into Kernow Brass and subsequently into the Town Band.

Playing under many conductors in his time with the band such as Frank Renton, Steve Sykes, Leonard Adams, Melvin White and David Loukes to name just a few he has taken part in numerous concerts and contests including the National Finals in the Royal Albert Hall.

In his spare time Rob works as a Contracts Manager for a large national engineering company, his responsibilities include managing projects such as new schools, hospital buildings and other large commercial and public building projects throughout Cornwall.

He also enjoys amongst other things water sports, especially exploring the Cornish coastline in his kayak.

Rob became Chairman of the St Austell Band after a short break from being part of the bands committee and is looking forward to the challenges that being part of a team running a small business and brass band will bring.
