Pontin's Youth Brass Festival 2007

Although the entries to the A Section is very disappointing for this years Pontins Youth Brass Band Festival, the Pontins Brass Band Committee is encouraged to see an increased entry to section B.

The committee however even with the low entry in Section A are determined to make a success of the competitions which will take place over the weekend 6th to 9th July at Prestatyn Sands Holiday Centre in North Wales, commencing with the B section contest on Saturday 7th at. 12.00 noon, Entry to the Centre for the Public on Saturday will cost £8 and £4 for concessions for the whole day, on Sunday it will be free admission this includes entry to the contest and Pontins facilities.

The line up of bands will be :-
 

“A” SECTION ENTRY

Section A

In addition £100 & Trophy to the Bands with the best Cornet, Horn, Trombone, Euphonium/Baritone, Basses and Percussion.

Specific Rules for Section A.
The Section is for all Youth Bands, including Music Centre Band, School, Community and County Bands.
There is no limit to the numbers in the band including percussion (no tutors)
All players must be bona-fide members of the band.
Bands may only enter one section of the festival.
Players must not have reached the age of 21 years on the day of the contest.
A player may play with more than one band if they are a bona-fide member of that band

Section B

Saturday 7th July 2007

Specific Rules for Section B.
The Section is for all Youth Bands, School and Training Bands.
Each band may use 4 Tutors who must be bona-fide tutors to the band but must not play a soloist part.
There is no limit to the numbers in the band including percussion and tutors.
All players must be bona-fide members of the band.
Bands may only enter one section of the festival.
Players must not have reached the age of 19 years on the day of the contest.
A player may play with more than one band if they are a bona-fide member of that band.

The format of the competition for both sections is a 25 minute programme to include a set test piece, an own choice March and any arranged Hymn Tune and pieces of your own choice to make up the 25 minute programme.

Pontins Brass Band committee always encourage and request comments from anyone for the improvement of their Brass Band Festivals, and after last years successful event received several which the committee have taken into consideration and are preparing some adjustments to the rules these will be included in the schedules and announced shortly.
