NYBBW 2006

The National Youth Brass Band of Wales course promises to be musically stimulating and educational again this summer.

They will reside in North Wales and give concerts in Wrexham, Buckley and Bangor.

Dr Robert Childs has chosen a tough programme, which includes Gregson’s Of Men and Mountains and Sparke’s Music of the Spheres. They will also play new arrangements by Brian Buckley of Grace Williams Nursery Suite and Tony Small is arranging some more music by Karl Jenkins.

This year the Band will feature three soloists; Owen Farr the celebrated horn soloist with Buy As You View Band will give the World Première of Gareth Wood’s Horn Concerto for Brass and Percussion and the Mother and Son piano duo Havey and Helen Davies will perform Bill Connor’s Concerto for piano four hands and Brass Band.

In addition to these major works the band will pay tribute to the music of W.Hogarth Lear and record a Christmas CD!

Tutors on this year’s course are Roger Webster, Richard Marshall, Owen Farr, Chris Thomas, David Childs, Gavin Saynor and Kevin Nutty.
