"A Time for Peace: A Musical Spectacular"
on Saturday 13th May in Bromley is proving to be an extremely popular
event. Described by Bob Thompson as "The flagship event for Brass Band
Aid", the concert stands to make an excellent amount of money for this
most worthwhile charity. You are encouraged not to miss out on this
exceptional showcase of talent featuring soloists Owen Farr (tenor
horn), Katrina Marzella (baritone), Chris Turner (cornet and trumpet)
and David Childs (euphonium).
We live in a world of suffering and
inequality, a world of longing and need. We are reminded daily of the
oppression, conflict and tragedies happening so frequently the world
over. The current political climate around the world has served to
increase tensions between peoples of different races and religions, and
recent events have increased our awareness of the need for co-operation
and love between all peoples.
The Rwanda genocide of 1994, the ongoing crisis in the Democratic
Republic of Congo, the Kosovo crisis, the Palestinian troubles and the
attacks on the World Trade Centre and London are only a few examples of
the conflicts that have devastated lives and communities in recent
years. Now is a time for peace. This event is a signal of our commitment
to a new and peaceful millennium.
The concert will be held at St Mark's Church, Westmoreland Road,
Bromley, Kent, BR2 0TB at 7.30pm.
