Bjørn Sagstad will conduct the
Eikanger-Bjørsvik band in the European Championships in Belfast next
year.
He was brought up just a few miles from our bandroom. He early on joined
the Manger band, where he played solo cornet for several years before
deciding to become a fulltime conductor.
Sagstad has studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and at both
the music conservatoires of Bergen and Trondheim. He has conducted most
of the military bands and symphony orchestras of Norway.
Sagstad and Eikanger-Bjørsvik have worked together on several occasions.
This will be our first contest together. The band members are looking
forward to an exciting period with Sagstad. |
