Pontns Youth Brass Festival 2006

Pontin’s are delighted to invite all youth bands to enter the second Brass Band Festival which will take place at Prestatyn Sands Holiday Centre over the weekend of Friday 23rd to Monday 26th June 2006. The Festival is intended to provide both a competitive and enjoyable event for all who attend, with entertainment and leisure facilities on offer for all the family throughout the weekend.

 

The prestigious British Open Brass Band  titles are on offer with kind permission of  Karyn &  Martin  Mortimer, to whom we are very grateful, along with £3,500 in cash prizes and Trophies.

 

The format of the competition is a 25 minute programme to include a set test piece, an own choice March and any arranged Hymn Tune and pieces of your own choice to make up the 25 minute programme. 

 

Our music consultant James Scott has chosen the following test piece Section A River city Suite - James Curnow - available from Winwood Music. Section B Movements 1 & 2(Towers and Chimneys  and Lord of the Dance  from Partita  Postcards from Home – Philip Wilby – available from Winwood Music.

 

Pontins Brass Band committee always encourage and request comments from anyone for the improvement of their Brass Band Festivals, and after last years successful event received several which the committee have taken into consideration and are preparing some adjustments to the rules these will be included in the schedules and announced shortly.
