Northern All Star Brass

A new brass band is born.

With the aim of developing brass performance in the north east, Ray Farr, Conductor in Residence at Durham University is forming a new band comprising of top players from a variety of bands in the area. The “All Star” Band will be a non-competing band and will focus on music connected to the area with programmes that include a range of music styles. There will also be opportunities to show case some of the local individual talent as soloists.

The large band (54 musicians)) will be known as the NORTHERN “ALL STAR” BRASS and applications are invited for places within the band.

The launch concert of the Band will be held on the 22nd January 2006, at the Sage, Gateshead which has recently been built and is undoubtedly one of the finest Concert Halls in Europe seating over 1600 people.  Approaches have already been made for the concert to be recorded by the BBC and plans are also being considered for further prestige concerts and recordings.

The administration of the Northern “All Star” Band will be in the hands of Ray Hutchinson one of the most experienced band administrators in the Northern Region who will be working very closely with Ray Farr the Bands conductor and architect of the project.
