Freckleton strengthen

The Freckleton Band (North West 1st Section Champions) is pleased to announce several new signings to the band to strengthen the ranks for the forthcoming National Finals at Harrogate and the Scottish Open.

Karen Rawcliffe has joined from the Hoover Band on 1st horn, Richard Carradus from the Poulton-le-Fylde Band has joined on Cornet and Sarah Chapman, from the Heydock band, has joined on percussion. They join the band with immediate effect, and complement several new signings earlier in the year. The band welcomed Joanne Cookson (Hesketh Bank) on Baritone, Richard Walker (ex Black Dyke and Leyland) and Russell Queenan (ex Royal Marines) on Cornets, John Evans (Poulton) on Flugel, and Lloyd McWalters (Tyldesley and Wigan Youth) on BBb Bass during the Spring/Summer season.

The band is sad to see Victoria Byrne leave to pursue a new job as Head of Music in Formby. Her services on Cornet, Flugel and as vocal soloist will be missed by band and audiences alike! We wish Vicky all the best in her endeavours, both musically and in her career.

Freckleton are looking forward to competing at the National Finals and the Scottish Open later in the year, and are currently working on their third CD recording, which includes Vocal and Bagpipe solos as well as the usual band repertoire.
