Brass on Sundays Gala

Symphony Hall’s now annual Brass on Sundays Gala takes place on Sunday 18 September, 2pm, part of a hectic weekend of banding which also sees the 153rd British Open Brass Band Championship at the Hall on Saturday 17th.   Sunday will offer some of those Championship bands a chance to relax a little and demonstrate the wonders of which they are capable, free of the competitive element of the previous day.  This Gala concert is the climax of a series of Brass on Sundays concerts which runs throughout the year at Symphony Hall.

This year’s concert line-up consists of four bands – The Brass Band of Central Florida (North American Brass Band Champions 2005), The Buy As You View Band, The Black Dyke Band and Foden’s Richardson Band (2004 British Open Champions).  As always, a young band of musicians welcomes concertgoers and this year, to set the scene, the Sandwell Youth Band under Andy Culshaw gives the foyer performance.
