Besses E-bay sale

At 6pm on Saturday 11th June 2005 Besses o’ th’ Barn Brass Band put itself up for grabs over the Internet on EBAY.

The band has listed all its positions and is auctioning the right to sponsor individual seats. In return future patrons will be displayed on the bands roll of honour on it’s web page at www.besses.co.uk .and will be given regular updates on the bands activities. In addition patrons will attend a local concert free of charge.

Band chair Richard Cookson stated : “The band needs to attract financial input. Despite being almost 200 years old we will continue to seek every available opportunity new and old  to develop and prosper.”

Richard continued “We do not know if the public will warm to this idea but this is a genuine effort to involve partners in our activities. We hope that businesses both local and national may find the concept attractive and join with us. I should point out that none of anything raised will enter the pockets of individuals as non of the players at Besses receive expenses.”

The band was formed in 1818 and is famous for touring the world in the early decades of the 20th Century. It celebrates the centenary of the first of these world tours next year.
