Astely Youth Band proudly presents a three band gala concert on Friday 17^TH June at 7.30PM in the Formby Hall Atherton featuring Bolton Youth Brass Band (Musical Director – Helen Minshall) Wigan Youth Brass Band (Musical Director – David Little) and Astley Youth Band (Musical Director – Helen Minshall)

  

Friday 17^th June promises to be a night to remember, when over 120 young musicians between the ages of 10 and 18 take to the stage at Formby Hall, Atherton, in a Gala Concert to celebrate Youth Brass Band music in the area. This will be the 4th time that Wigan, Bolton and Astley Youth Bands have presented a concert of this type, and it is now established as an annual event. Astley Youth Band hosted the first concert at Formby Hall, Atherton, in 2002, Wigan were the hosts in 2003, at Aspull Civic Hall, and last year’s event hosted by Bolton at the Festival Hall, Bolton attracted a record audience.

 

The evening starts at 7.30pm with a 20 minute programme by National Youth Brass Band Champions - Bolton Youth Brass Band, under the direction of Helen Minshall. Wigan Youth Brass Band will follow, under the direction of David Little, and then Astley Youth Band, under the direction of Helen Minshall. There is a very broad based programme with many different types of music to suit every member of the audience, from marches and hymns, to pop and rock pieces, traditional brass band music and orchestral arrangements. The grand finale will be a massed band conducted by David Little, with all members of all 3 bands performing 3 items. It should certainly raise the roof!
