City of Cambridge Band new MD

The City of Cambridge Brass Band is delighted to confirm the appointment of Craig Patterson as its Musical Director.

Craig brings a wealth of musical experience to the Band which ranges from playing with the famous Britannia Building Society and Stocksbridge Engineering bands through to performing as Assistant Musical Director for the UK tour of Les Miserables.  In taking up his new role with the City of Cambridge Brass Band, Craig replaces the band's former Musical Director, Richard Hull, a professional trumpet player, who is now the Band’s principal cornet.

The Band's engagement list for the year looks particularly impressive starting with a concert with Reg Vardy Band at the Emmanuel United Reformed Church, Cambridge on Saturday 28 May.  This is followed later in the year by concerts with the Cambridge University Brass Band and also the Cambridge Philharmonic Choir.  In September, the Band will be hosting a masterclass with Glyn Williams, the talented Euphonium player of Foden’s Richardson band.  The day will culminate with a concert at Cambridge's Guildhall where Glyn will be the guest soloist.

This is a time of change for the band; not only has it appointed a new MD, it has also moved to new rehearsal facilities in Trumpington in Cambridge.

Due to player relocation, the band currently has vacancies in the Euphonium and Baritone sections.  Anyone who is interested in these positions, or in playing with the band, is invited to contact the Band Manager, on 07704 885743 to find out more or visit the Band’s website www.cambridgeband.org.uk
