The first event, on Friday 21 January, is directed mainly towards Brass teachers who work with students of varying levels, from beginner through to college level, as well as interested amateurs. The day will provide an opportunity to interact with other teachers and work with renowned staff and guests in workshops, masterclasses, lectures and forum discussions. There will also be practical classes on a wide range of Instrumental Technique, Aural Awareness, Alexander Technique and new examination repertoire.  In addition, there will be an Associated Board / Exam Forum, Concerts, playing sessions and opportunities for lesson observation.

Chethams staff are Robert Burtenshaw - trombone, Tom Clough - Alexander Technique, Liz Davis - french horn, John Dickinson - trumpet, Murray Greig - trumpet, Brian Kingsley - tuba, Les Storey - bass trombone, David Thornton - euphonium and David Chatterton - trumpet.

The second day of events on Saturday 22 January is directed towards Students of all ages, levels and abilities and their parents. Teachers are also welcome.  This day will focus more on interactive workshops, group playing sessions and masterclasses with staff and guests.  The day will conclude with a concert.

Chethams staff are Robert Burtenshaw - trombone, Liz Davis - french horn, James Muirhead - Big Band, Tracey Redfern - trumpet, Gareth Small - trumpet, David Thornton - euphonium and David Chatterton - trumpet.

Both days present excellent opportunities to work with and listen to some illustrious players as well as gaining a broader understanding of the internal workings of a specialist music school, hopefully to provide scope for future joint projects and liaisons with the participants.

This pair of events is one of two planned for brass players this year, the second being on 13 / 14 May.
