Carlton Brass (Nottingham) has been awarded an
NEC internet-ready PC and a 12 months connection fee to help them maintain
their website as part of the BT Community Connections award scheme. I
addition Microsoft XP software is included as part of the enhanced winning
package.
The scheme, now in its third year, has awarded more than 3,400 awards to a
diverse range of groups throughout the country. The scheme has enabled
groups to access a wealth of information and communicate via the internet
opening up fundraising, promotional, recruitment and training opportunities.
The Band was among hundreds that entered in the East Midlands and impressed
the judges with their ideas on how the internet-ready PC would benefit the
community.
The Band plans to use the internet-ready PC to enhance the use of the
website www.carltonbrass.org.uk.
Ray Ward press officer of Carlton Brass said. "It's great to receive the PC
which will be dedicated to the Band's website as well as allowing us to gain
more information from the net for Band members. Now that we have a dedicated
PC we no longer have to rely on a Band members personal PC for the website".
Meanwhile Carlton Brass is putting the final finishing touches to its
entertainment programme in readiness for the forth coming Buxton
Entertainment Contest and the end of this month.
