The
Yorkshire Imperial Urquhart Travel Band is delighted to announce the
appointment of John Hinckley as its new Principal Conductor ahead of the
British Open Championships.
John, had
an enviable reputation as the flugel horn player with Brighouse &
Rastrick, a band he was a member of from 1974 to 1992. His conducting
career naturally followed and he had five successful years as resident
conductor with the unexpectedly successful Marple Band followed by a seven
year period as the MD of the celebrated Carlton Main Frickley Colliery
Band.
While at
CMFC John achieved some notable contest achievements including winning the
Yorkshire Area in 1999, with Brighouse & Rastrick, Black Dyke and
Yorkshire Building Society behind them. They won the Grand Shield enabling
a return to the much coveted British Open Championships and a top three
finish at the All England Masters Championships in 2001.
