Gala Concert details and programme released
for The Bridgewater Hall. Black Dyke, Fodens and Grimethorpe to feature in
this year's Gala Concert
A sumptuous programme of brass music is to be performed at this year's
Great Northern Brass Arts Festival which takes place at The Bridgewater
Hall, Manchester on Saturday, September 4th commencing at 7.15pm.
The bands performing in the first half are
Fodens Richardson Band conducted by Major Peter Parkes and Grimethorpe
Colliery (UK Coal) Band conducted by Richard Evans. The Black Dyke Band
will perform the entire of the second half and will be conducted by their
professional conductor Dr Nicholas Childs.
The programme will include two premieres. The Black Dyke Band conducted by
Dr. Nicholas Childs will perform the world premiere of Pete Meechan's
Purcell Variants. This major new work is in three movements -
Introduction, Elegy and Finale. Grimethorpe Colliery (UK Coal) Band,
conducted by Richard
Evans will feature Richard Marshall performing the UK premiere of Phil
Lawrence's Cornet Concerto Blaze.
