Cornwall Youth 2004/05 Programme

The Cornwall Youth Brass Band is pleased to launch its 50th Anniversary Programme. Rehearsals for the new season start on September 19th working towards the Christmas Residential Course. The Band will be joined on the Course by the young Euphonium star David Childs who will be guest soloist as well as coaching and conducting the Band during the Course. Winner of the International Euphonium Player Award of the Year at the age of eighteen, David was also winner of the Brass Section of the BBC Young Musician of The Year.

The Easter Course will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Band and at a Gala concert at The Hall for Cornwall they will give the first performance of a new work being written for them by Philip Harper, who will also be directing the course.

The work based on a selection of Cornish Melodies will take the form of a thirty minute journey around the world, starting and ending in Cornwall. The concert will also include a rare performance of Sir Malcolm Arnold’s Song of Freedom when the Band will be joined by Primary School Choirs from the County.

New members are invited and welcomed to join the Band for this exciting season and full details are attached.
