The Bramhall High School Brass Quartet was awarded the
'Outstanding Performance' in the Ensemble category at the National Festival
of Music for Youth on Wednesday 7th July.
The quartet, whose members
are also linked with Stockport Schools Band and the National Youth Brass
band of Great Britain, competed against some of the finest youth Ensembles
in the Country and its prize is to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in the
Schools Prom in November.
The quartet, coached by Fairey FP (Music) Band's flugel horn player, Neil
Hewson, played Thomas Wyss' arrangement of Purcell's Rondeau from Abedlazer
and a five-movement piece entitled 'Suite for Brass' by Mike Davis.
The school was also represented in the Big Band category, where the school
swing band, directed by renowned band conductor Simon Stonehouse, performed.
They gave an excellent account of themselves and all associated with the
school are extremely proud of the students work. |
