Buy As You View Company and Just Rentals as they were formerly known have generously supported the Buy As You View Cory Band for the past six years. The Company’s input has greatly contributed to the band’s contest successes, expansion of  it’s concert schedule, music commissioning policy, vigorous recording projects and  has helped to developed links in education.

As a gesture of reciprocal gratitude the band has decided with immediate effect not to include the word Cory in its name. The band and the committee feel that with the level of sponsorship and moral support the company is giving the band they deserve the exclusive right to it’s name.

Commenting on the name change, the band’s chairman Austin Davies said, “It has become increasingly embarrassing when radio presenters, contest organizers and some concert promoters only allude to the name of our sponsors, Buy As You View Company and usually refer to us as The Cory Band”. He concluded that the name ‘The Buy As You View Cory Band’ was a bit of a mouthful and hopes that ‘Buy As You View Band’ will trip off the tongue a little easier.

Bob Childs, the band’s Musical Director echoed Austin’s sentiments and added, “Changing the name of the band is the next natural step in our relationship with Buy As You View. If the company had asked us to change our name six years ago when they initially got involved with the band it would have given us a massive identity crisis. However, Buy As You View is synonymous with us now and allowing Cory to become part of our illustrious history is the right move”.

The band will always be indebted to John and Richard Cory for their support and their role in the band’s evolution will be clearly documented in the band’s archive and will be referred to with great passion and pride whenever possible. Never the less as we changed the name from The Ton Temperance Band to The Cory Band to reflect the support the band received from the two brothers. The time is now right to afford the same respect to Buy As You View.

Commenting on the band’s decision to change the name to ‘The Buy As You View Band’ the company Chairman Bernard Jones O.B.E said. “ I can only concur with the comments made by both chairman and musical director on their views on a name change. I am personally delighted that this gesture has been made and it is one we gratefully embrace. To mark this name change I have commissioned new stage and walking out uniforms. Both will carry the new name and reflect the company colours. It is thought that both uniforms will make their debut at this years British Open. Our sponsorship to date has been a great success for Buy As You and the band, long may it continue”
