The move brings Owen back to his native home of South Wales and reunites him with his mentor David Cornelius. David was forced to relinquish his principal horn position due to ever increasing work and personal commitments.

Bob Childs said, ‘I am thrilled to have Owen in the band, he is without doubt the finest horn soloist in the band movement at the moment. Buy As You View Cory Band will give him the time and space to develop repertoire and hone his skills as a professional musician’.

Coupled with his move to Buy As You View he will also join a distinguished team of instrumental tutors at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, teaching tenor horn alongside David Childs and Chris Turner.

Owen, speaking about his move to Buy As You View said, ‘I am delighted to be joining the champion band of Wales. As a boy I always looked up to them and it’s an added bonus to have David Cornelius on 1st horn, I used to have lessons from David, he’s a great musician.’ Owen added that he is also looking forward to spending more time with his family.

Before moving up North to study at the RNCM and play with the Fairey Band, Owen played with; Pontypool Brass, BTM Band, Tredegar Town, Gwent Youth and the National Youth Band of Wales.

Owen commences full time duties with the Buy As You View Cory Band  on June 1st 2004.

Move’s in the horn section has given Keith Curtis the opportunity to retire from the band. Keith has played in the Band for more than twenty years winning everything there is to win. Bob Childs paid tribute to Keith’s contribution by stating that he has been a wonderful player and a great bandsman and wished him all the best in his retirement.
