Young tuba player wins scholarship |
|
 Samantha Minshall was delighted to hear this
weekend that she has won a "Robert Lewin Scholarship" from the charity
"Awards for Young Musicians". The award of £500 is to be used towards the
cost of buying Samantha a Tuba. Samantha is currently playing on her
fathers tuba. We are saving to get her one of her own, and this £500 will
be a big boost to the fund!
Samantha, who is just 11 years old and still at primary school, has won
a place in the Junior School at the Royal Northern College of Music, to
study Tuba and Piano, starting in September. She is a member of the
National Children's Orchestra, and the brand new National Children's
Brass Band of Great Britain, and she is looking forward to taking part
in their summer courses.
Samantha plays in 3 local bands - Astley Youth Band, Wigan Youth Band
and Bolton Youth Band.
