Grimethorpe present concert launch of 'History' series

On Friday 25 June the distinguished conductor Elgar Howarth will conduct Grimethorpe Colliery (UK CoElgar Howarthal) Band at a special concert in Huddersfield Town Hall to launch a new series of six recordings entitled The History of Brass Band Music.

The repertoire will be taken from the already released first disc in this series, The G
olden Era, and also material from the forthcoming 2nd release of the series - The Salvation Army Connection.

Commenting on the concert Mr Howarth said, 'Recording this repertoire has been a richly rewarding experience, and to have the opportunity to perform it in such fitting surroundings is a real bonus. I have selected the material that I think will provide something for everyone, including Eric Ball's Resurgam and the SA classic The Holy War (Ray Steadman-Allen). The CD series has a long way to go yet, and we'll also be giving a taster of other future releases such as Classical Arrangements. It promises to be an evening of the highest quality brass banding'.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased from The Tourist Office, Albion Street, Huddersfield, telephone 01484 223200 and all other usual Kirklees outlets. Tickets are priced at £8.00, £10.00 and £12.00.
